The installation of PVC flooring mainly includes some key steps, such as base treatment, self leveling construction, floor paving, and joint welding. The following are detailed installation methods:
Preparation Before Construction
- Grassroots requirements:
The ground must be flat, dry, sturdy, and free of oil stains. The flatness requirement is that the height difference within a 2-meter straightedge should be ≤ 2mm, the moisture content should be ≤ 4.5%, the temperature should be between 15-28 ℃, and the humidity should be between 20% and 75%.
- Material preparation:
PVC flooring needs to be transported to the construction site 48 hours in advance and stored upright to adapt to the ambient temperature. Prepare PVC special adhesive, self leveling cement, interface agent, PVC welding rod and other auxiliary materials, as well as tools such as toothed scraper, pressure roller, slotting machine, welding gun, etc.
Grassroots Treatment
- Ground polishing:
Use a floor polishing machine with a capacity of over 1000 watts to polish the entire floor, removing paint and adhesive residues. Raised and loose areas must be removed.
- Vacuum cleaning:
Use an industrial vacuum cleaner with a power of no less than 2000 watts to thoroughly clean the original floor.
- Crack repair:
Large cracks are repaired with stainless steel reinforcement bars and polyurethane adhesive, while small cracks are sealed with interface agents.
- Apply interface agent:
Evenly roll the interface agent to enhance the adhesion between self leveling and the base layer.
Self Leveling Construction
- Self leveling mixing:
According to the product instructions, mix thoroughly with an electric mixer until there are no particles in the slurry.
- Pouring and leveling:
Pour the self leveling slurry evenly on the ground, use a toothed scraper to assist in leveling, and the thickness is usually 2-3mm.
- Air release and maintenance:
When wearing spiked shoes, use an air release roller to roll on the surface to release air, and let it rest for 4-7 days for complete curing.
- Polishing and refinement:
After solidification, use a floor polishing machine to polish the protruding parts, and then thoroughly clean them with a vacuum cleaner.
Floor Paving
- Pre laying positioning:
Cut the floor in advance according to the size of the site, mark the positioning line on the wall, and lay the roll material perpendicular to the direction of the wall where the window is located.
- Scrape glue:
Use a toothed scraper to evenly apply PVC special glue to the base layer, with a dosage of about 0.33kg/㎡. Wait for 10-20 minutes until the glue is transparent and brushed.
- Laying the floor:
Roll the floor onto the glue, smooth it out from the middle to the edges, align the seams and patterns.
- Compaction and exhaust:
Immediately use a 50-75kg steel roller to repeatedly roll from the middle to the surrounding areas, exhaust the air, and ensure that the floor is fully adhered to the ground.
Seam Welding
- Slotting:
After the glue has cured for 24 hours, use a slotting machine to slot along the joint, with a depth of 1/2-2/3 of the floor thickness, and cannot penetrate the bottom.
- Welding:
Adjust the temperature of the welding gun to around 350 ℃, and press the PVC welding rod evenly into the groove to fill it up.
- Leveling:
When the welding rod is semi cooled, use a moon shaped cutter to level the excess part, and after complete cooling, level it again to be flush with the floor surface.
Closing Cleaning
Clean residual glue with a shovel, wipe the floor surface with neutral cleaner, and install skirting boards. Avoid walking within 24 hours after completion of construction, and avoid heavy object impact within 7 days.
Attention: The construction environment temperature should not be lower than 5 ℃ or higher than 40 ℃. Do not step on the glue before it has solidified. Place a floor mat at the door to reduce wear and tear. Use neutral detergent for daily cleaning and regular waxing and maintenance.
