If the base layer (such as cement floor) is not properly treated for moisture prevention during installation, or the seams are not sealed tightly, water may penetrate from the base layer or through the seams, affecting the service life.

Plastic floor coverings can withstand daily splashes and floor cleaning, but prolonged soaking (such as water accumulation that is not promptly cleared) may gradually damage the seam sealing, especially for economy-type floor coverings.
